Inside Museum

The Heritage Museum established in 2000 and located at a distance about 4 km from the main market, Tribal Heritage Museum is a small cultural private museum located in Munsiyari town of Uttarakhand. The museum showcases the history, culture, traditions, and lifestyle of Bhotia people who are an ethnolinguistic group of people residing in the upper Himalayan valleys of the Kumaon and Garhwal divisions of Uttarakhand.

The Tribal Museum is a private initiative by the late Mr.Pangtey about 20 years back which documents and preserves the now vanishing lifestyle of the Bhotiyas of the Munsiyari area who were traders between India and Tibet up to 1962. It includes implements, clothing, and hookahs etc.

A small museum with a diverse collection of tribal heritage culture and lifestyle. Another attraction is the huge stock of photographs of peaks visible from Munsiyari. Nostalgia, heritage, and culture are written all over the interiors of the museum. The commentary is very helpful in getting insights into the articles on display.
