Bhimtal is a one of the major Tourist Destination of Indian State Uttrakhand which is situated nearby Nainital. Bhimtal Lake is the longest lake of Uttrakhand having a length of 1.7km which is about 300 meters longer than Nainital and has a masonry dam built in 1883 creating a storage facility for supplying drinking water to the nearby residents and supports aquatic culture with a variety of fish species.

Bhimtal is gaining popularity each day under The Kumaun region due to Bhimtal Lake and promoting Uttrakhand Tourism and also much cheaper as compared to Nainital. It is situated at an altitude of 1370 meters and is named after a famous character in India mythology called Bhima. The ‘C’ shape Lake is a scenic spot with a small island at its center on which there is a beautiful large aquarium which was previously a restaurant. The town is well connected by roads and is a perfect destination to visit in any month.

  • Kayaking is another activity to be enjoyed at Bhimtal lake. This lake is much bigger than Nainital lake and supported with best floating facilities. Lake is surrounded by a view of mountains with green forest and a beautiful island at the center of a lake. While moving in the boat one can enjoy the beauty of valleys and the hills.
  • Price for Kayaking is ₹200 per person for half an hour.

TREKKING

  • Bhimtal is well-known for its best trekking destination. The trekking opportunities are concealed at various locations like Pine Riviera located at fourteen km from Bhimtal, which is supposed to be the ideal place for camping. Trekking can also be enjoyed near Bhimtal Lake, which is surrounded by dense forest and natures boundary. While trekking up and down this location you can capture scenic views of the valley.

HOW TO REACH BHIMTAL

Bhimtal is well connected by road and the only way to reach Bhimtal is via road. The nearest Railway Station from Bhimtal is Kathgodam Railway Station which is around 21 km away from Bhimtal and the nearest Airport is Pantnagar which is around 58 km away.

TAXI

One can hire a taxi or a cab from Kathgodam Railway Station which will take around 45 minutes to reach Bhimtal by road. Charges for hiring a full taxi is starting from ₹800 and for sharing taxi charges are starting from ₹150 per person.

BUS

There is another way to reach Bhimtal via road is to take a bus either Uttrakhand Government bus service or a private one and the charges are also cheaper as compared to the taxi which is ₹80 per person.
